MÖTLEY CRÜE To Embark On Farewell Tour In 2003
September 5, 2002MÖTLEY CRÜE will embark on a farewell tour in late 2003/early 2004 to coincide with the release of the film version of the group's autobiography, The Dirt, bassist Nikki Sixx has revealed via his latest posting on the band's official web site.
"Been knee-deep in getting all the T's crossed and I's dotted with Paramount Pictures and MTV Films for the MÖTLEY CRÜE movie," Sixx wrote. "If all goes well there will be a farewell tour, an amazing soundtrack and a movie all hitting in late 2003/early 2004."
Nikki also unveiled for the first time the details of his project with L.A. GUNS axeman Tracii Guns, which also features in its ranks ADEMA's Kris Kohl on drums and a curiously-named London on lead vocals (a second guitarist will be added later).
"We've been finishing demos at my house until Tracii and Kris return from tour," Nikki offered. "I'd say it's a cross between Shout [At The Devil]-era [MÖTLEY] CRÜE, first [GUNS N' ROSES], SOUNGARDEN and JANE'S ADDICTION. The songs are cool, but holy fuck, does this band cook. London is one of the best singers I've ever heard. Imagine if [DEEP PURPLE's] Ian Gillian and old-school Axl [Rose] had a baby…it would be London.
"I can't believe that's his name," the bassist continued. "I mean, come on.. They say god has a sense of humor…but gimme a break."
According to Sixx, the as-yet-unnamed group will perform several gigs in the Los Angeles area in a few months. "Gotta pop that cherry someplace… Might as well do it in our own backyard," he said.
